Skin Inspired Technology
Living organisms possess an outer surface with self-healing capabilities that can sense and respond to their environment, allowing them to thrive in the wild. To function effectively over extended periods, medical wearables, machines, and robots must similarly be able to rapidly and reliably perceive and react to their surroundings.
Engineers have sought to create such lifelike devices by incorporating expensive, rigid, heavy, and bulky silicon-based electronics into soft robotic systems, bionic implants, wearables, and smart consumer products. Despite these efforts, only a few of the aforementioned attributes have been successfully integrated in a monolithic platform leaving the ultimate goal out of reach.
Through CareGum P40, Cybosense has gained access to a unified material platform that can sense, adapt, and respond to a wide array of environmental factors, including biological, physical, and chemical stimuli. This platform is highly adaptive, self-healing, and possesses the inherent ability to regulate temperature, much like living skin tissue. Notably, the system is cost-effective, feasible, and can be easily implemented within existing industrial pipelines and wearables.
